About Me:

I have over 10 years of experience in using multiple CAD platforms such as Fusion 360, NX 9, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, and more. This experience stems from my passion for design and engineering. In high school, I was on a robotics team as a machinist and designer. I made parts using mills, lathes, and other tools. At the same time, designing actuating arms and other robotic sub-assemblies. I’ve worked as a fabricator, welder, and machinist. I worked at jobs that involved building everything from airplanes and 3D printers to hot dog carts. My work experience has been where the most important lesson is learned for designers; how things are made. I won’t just help with your introduction to Fusion 360, but to your start as a designer. When using CAD, you can often lose sight of the big picture. Many times I’ve designed parts that were impossible to make, and I’ll help you so that you don’t make the same mistakes.

Tutors & Services Philosophy

Don't Learn Alone

Professionals these days are sitting alone and staring at their computers. They spend years searching online for tools that will increase their workplace efficiency. They hunt through forums and watch lengthy videos, trying to find the right pieces of information.

Sometimes they just have one small question that would take a person two minutes to answer, but customer support lines are a thing of the past. Big companies will direct you to an FAQ that will hardly begin to answer your question.

Bring Back the Human Connection

We strive to bring human connection back to the work environment. Our tutors work directly with you to solve your problems, similar to the way an apprentice works hand-in-hand with a skilled professional.

Screen-share technologies like Zoom have allowed us to work together in real time. We can see each others' screens and cursors. We can switch from one screen to another to easily share information. We can even turn on our webcam for a more human interaction.

Tutors, Services, or Both

Sometimes our clients want to learn a program from beginning to end; sometimes they completely hand over the services to us; and other times, they want something in between.

Some clients want to be able to use the program on a basic level and let us do the hard stuff. Others want to co-work with us, supervising our work to ensure their artistic vision is realized. Along the way, they may learn some tools of the trade.

By the end of the process, some clients are able to wean themselves completely off of our services and are empowered to do the work themselves. If they get stuck or behind on a deadline, they use us as a lifeline. They can call anytime—even if it’s just a 10-minute question—we are here to help.

Industrial Design FAQs

What are the key stages in the industrial design process?

The key stages in the industrial design process typically include: research and analysis, conceptual design, design development, prototyping, testing and evaluation, refinement and finalization, and production and implementation.

How does industrial design impact product usability?

Industrial design enhances product usability by focusing on user-centered design, ergonomic considerations, intuitive interfaces, and aesthetic appeal, resulting in products that are easier, safer, and more enjoyable to use.

How do you balance aesthetics and functionality in industrial design?

Balancing aesthetics and functionality in industrial design involves an iterative process of prototyping and testing to ensure the product is both visually appealing and practical. Collaboration between designers and engineers is essential, as is user feedback to refine both form and function. The goal is to create a seamless integration where design enhances usability and the product meets performance requirements without compromising on its visual identity.

How do you stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in industrial design?

Staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in industrial design involves regularly reading industry publications, attending design conferences and trade shows, participating in professional networks and forums, taking continuing education courses, following influential designers and firms on social media, and experimenting with new tools and software to stay ahead of technological advancements.

What software tools do industrial designers commonly use?

How do you protect intellectual property in industrial design?

To protect intellectual property in industrial design, you can file for design patents to safeguard the unique visual qualities of a product. Additionally, using nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) when sharing designs, registering trademarks for brand elements, and consistently documenting the design process can further protect your intellectual property.

How do you incorporate sustainability into industrial design projects?

Incorporating sustainability into industrial design projects involves using eco-friendly materials, optimizing for energy efficiency, focusing on durability and longevity, designing for recyclability, minimizing waste through efficient manufacturing processes, and considering the entire lifecycle of the product from production to disposal.

How do you ensure the manufacturability of a design?

To ensure the manufacturability of a design, integrate Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles early in the design process, collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers, select appropriate materials, validate designs through simulations and prototyping, and continuously refine based on feedback and testing.

What is the role of prototyping in industrial design?

Prototyping in industrial design serves to visualize concepts, test functionality and ergonomics, identify issues and refine solutions, facilitate stakeholder feedback, and demonstrate a design's feasibility before mass production.
